The 1 Thing
Well, it's actually 10 things.
10 questions to ponder in your own moments of calm and quiet solitude.
They are designed to engage the subconscious part of your mind and the other faint voices we often ignore or don't listen to enough.
1. What would I do differently if I believed I was already enough?
Self-worth is the engine; strategy is just the steering wheel.
2. What am I pretending not to know about the way I'm living right now?
The most painful truths are the ones we're most skilled at ignoring.
3. Whose approval am I still unconsciously chasing—and what would life feel like if I let it go?
This isn't just about parents or bosses. It's about freedom from invisible chains.
4. If I stopped trying to prove myself, what would I finally allow myself to do?
This question uncovers where your energy is going—into performance rather than purpose. Where your energy flows, as does your direction.
5. If success was guaranteed, what would I be doing differently this year?
Behind hesitation is usually fear, not lack of ability.
6. What parts of my identity am I afraid to let go of—even though they no longer serve me?
Letting go of what previously saved (served) you however no longer does.
7. What emotions am I addicted to—and how do they quietly shape my decisions?
Some people are addicted to anxiety, others to struggle, others to being the victim or hero. Either way, we are hostages to our addictions. How well or do they serve you these days? Do they even serve you anymore?
8. When was the last time I truly listened to my inner voice—and not my inner critic? The voice of intuition is calm and quiet.
The critic is loud and fast.
9. If someone followed me around with a camera for a week, what would they say I truly value?
Forget what you say you value—look at how you spend your time, money, attention.
10. What would I want my life to look like if I knew no one would ever judge me?
This is where your real desires are buried under years of “should’s.”
The Thing in between
Back to the faint noises (from the Introduction to the 1 Thing).
These quiet noises are often the ones we don't listen to enough. Sometimes not at all.
The longer we ignore them, the louder they become. There exists a tipping point which represents the two sides of a line:
The first line represents the opportunity to make the necessary change. You just made it…
The second line is when you are too late.
‘When it's too late,’ looks like a humungous life event which alters the direction of your life.
Here you are reacting as a result of the change as opposed to responding to feedback before an event takes place.
Quote to ponder
“How can you fail at something you are meant to do”
The ‘Thinkaway’
You are ‘meant to be doing’ what you are designed to do in life. Not what you are settling for.
In order to live this, you gotta be honest with yourself, take action and back yourself.
Take care and remember, you're doing better than you think.
